Dan River Region Out-of-School Time Network

The Dan River Region Out-of-School Time (OST) Network is a dynamic new initiative designed to elevate, support, and connect OST providers across our region. In close partnership with the Danville Regional Foundation (DRF), this initiative seeks to create a strong, unified voice for out-of-school time programming—ensuring children and youth in our community thrive during the critical hours beyond the school day.

Dan River REgion OST Network's Key Goals

sustaining a
regional OST Network

Build and grow a strong OST network by connecting providers, fostering regular communication, and creating space to share ideas, align priorities, and support each other’s work.

Align with statewide vision

Align with statewide efforts by partnering with VPOST and NCCAP to ensure our regional work supports and reflects Virginia and North Carolina’s vision for youth success and educational equity.

Amplifying
Awareness & Advocacy

Raise awareness and advocate for OST by participating in national campaigns and events that highlight the impact of local programs and celebrate providers’ vital work.

Power in Every Hour

Through this initiative, we seek to empower providers to lead the change during non-school hours—affirming their shared purpose and passion: equipping young people with the skills, confidence, and support they need to succeed.

We believe that the hours outside of traditional school—including afterschool, before school, summer learning, and other OST programs—represent a powerful time of opportunity. These hours can transform lives, strengthen families, and build healthier communities.

Together, we are working to ensure that every child in the Dan River Region has access to quality out-of-school time experiences that inspire, support, and prepare them for a brighter future.
