United Way of Danville-Pittsylvania County Launches the Food Hotline

Amidst the uncertainty of how long Danville and Pittsylvania County residents may need to remain in their homes due to the Coronavirus threat, your local United Way is invested in making sure that families feel the stability of having food and basic needs resources.

United Way’s Food Hotline is designed to provide a way for community residents to call and find out accurate and up-to-date information regarding the time, location, and eligibility requirements (if any) for free food distribution throughout the area.  The Food Hotline will also provide food, grocery or basic needs delivery to adults 65 or older, people with serious underlying medical conditions or those exhibiting symptoms of any illness.

The number to call is 434-792-3700 and a volunteer will be ready to provide you with the latest food and basic necessity information Monday thru Friday during the hours of 9 am until 4 pm.

This project provides an avenue for volunteers in the community and food distribution organizations to work together to meet the needs of community residents.  Volunteers will cover the phone lines and pickup/delivery of items.  The volunteers will also have information about grocery stores and pharmacies with pickup or delivery services available.

We are all in this crisis together and as always we will Live United and come through this a stronger community.
